Dental care
The trouble with gum disease is that people can have it for years without noticing
General oral maintenance is essential for all patients. It's not only about avoiding decay and fillings but involves looking after your gums. Therefore to prevent and treat gum disease every patient should adhere to the following daily:-
- Use an electronic toothbrush twice a day
- Use a mouthwash twice a day
- Floss once a day - preferably at night
- Regularly visit the dental hygienist
Regular hygienist visits are essential in order to monitor a patient's dental health and identifying signs of periodontal disease. For this reason our dental hygienist and periodontal specialist work together closely, and any patients who show the onset of periodontal disease will be instantly referred form the hygienist to our periodontist.
Prevention is better that cure. At The Centre for Advanced Dentistry we practice preventative care. We ensure all our patients have a routine six monthly comprehensive examination by their dentist, in which, not only are their teeth assessed, but also their gums and soft tissue. Paul Tipton and the advanced dentistry team maintain private general practice as well as specialising in advanced restorative, implant and cosmetic techniques, so that we are able to treat our patients individual needs from routine fillings to maintenance and specialist care. We also recommend that our patients see our hygienist every three months (monthly during active treatment) to ensure that there is no build up of plaque, which may lead to gum disease.
